This is a small embellished landscape. The landscape is a "fantasy" design, in other words, not based on any sort of photo, but created just from my imagination. I imagine myself driving or walking down a country road in springtime. I wanted make this place colorful, but soft and inviting.
The leaves on the tree are made from machine needle lace, a technique I teach in some of my Quilt University classes. Below, you can see a detail of the needle lace.
